The Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) is a master developer of ports and industrial zones. GIS is a major part of ADPC's information technology roadmap. The system has become well established within the organisation with a clear vision that has delivered upon many major objectives. GIS is being populated with all as-built plans from ADPC's project, enabling this information that is traditionally locked away in CAD files to be accessible to all. The SDSFIE (Spatial Data Standard for Facilities, Infrastructure and Environment) has been used for example for modelling Geotechnical and Environmental features to build the data model which is a mixture of data models taken from other ADPC governmental organizations. The ADPC enterprise GIS has been designed to integrate data across multiple departments serving the whole organization and providing secure access to GIS information through a Geocortex IMF web portal and through the use of ESRI ArcGIS Server technology.
