UAE GIS Site Visits start today in Copenhagen

A high-level delegation from the UAE visits various Danish organizations to exchange experience in IT & location intelligence

COPENHAGEN: Led by gistec, a high-level delegation which consists of about 15 IT and GIS directors from different entities in the UAE meet their Danish counterparts for a week of site visits in Copenhagen from 8 to 12 April 2019. The UAE GIS Site Visits offer a unique learning and networking venue by providing the participants with in-depth views and focused discussions on IT and location intelligence across different industries at an international level.

The 2019 UAE delegation, which represents different sectors such as local government, utilities, telecom, engineering, and real estate, is composed of the following organizations:

This year, the UAE GIS Site Visits explores Denmark, a modern and prosperous nation known for its powerful open market based on services and manufacturing, as well as renowned achievements in sustainability and renewable energy. The host organizations from Danish public and private sectors are:

The main objective of the UAE GIS Site Visits is to transfer knowledge and exchange best practices between the UAE and the host country where the visits take place. It also aims to achieve the following:

  • Expose the participants to the best practices in GIS and IT, and gain valuable knowledge they can apply in their respective organizations;
  • Connect practitioners from the UAE with their fellows in the host country in the fields of IT and location intelligence, and;
  • Discuss and learn from one another to develop better approaches in overcoming challenges.

The 5-day site visits organized in cooperation with the Embassy of the UAE in Copenhagen is an opportunity to bring the Danish experience to the UAE delegation, share insights, and explore potential collaboration on several projects.

The 2019 UAE GIS Site Visits participants and host organizations will discuss bilateral topics and experiences like:

  • Collaboration – How government agencies and stakeholders are working together using geospatial capabilities
  • Data exchange and integration – Getting data from different sources and integrating it into a GIS platform
  • Trust-building – How the system, support, and software are used to proactively help the service providers support its customers
  • Other relevant topics such as big data and open data

The UAE GIS Site Visits also features a private and exclusive tour to the Amager Ressource Center, a waste-to-energy facility, before it finally opens to the public, as well as a visit to SAP Experience Centre, an open platform and home of Nordic digital transformation acceleration. ◾
